Bat Migration

As of mid-December occurs the peak of the season, the biggest worldwide mammals migration, those of the fruit bat that it is also the biggest bat of Southern Africa. This natural migration happens over the skies of Kasanka National Park, Zambia, a swamp forest of mushitu trees. Over 5-10 millions of straw-coloured fruit bats attracted by the wild esences of madure fruits in the area started to arrive at the beginning of October. The everyday wild spectacle just lasts over half an hour, and starts with the dusk when the activity of the colony increases suddenly. First of all the bat explorers depart to check the closer availability of fruits hanging from trunks and branches of mushitu trees where the bats have fixed their residence and spend daylight sleeping upright. The most thrilling moment arrives with a simultaneous fly of millions of bats in a disperse radius creating an unforgettable wilderness sight, and one of the top ten wildlife spectacles of the world.
